writes, "Hi Everybody! Sorry I missed last month’s deadline. We attended our first show May 7th at Depot Town in Ypsilanti, Michigan. It was a nice show in the park down by the Huron River. This was the 29th year for this show called the Ypsi Area Show and Shine. It is always held the first Sunday in May."

PARKSIDE PARTNERS WITH NASA
writes, "How our partnership with NASA began with a dream to work with NASA. Several years ago NASA developed a new partnership with schools across the nation to increase students interest, knowledge, and understanding of science, technology, engineering, and math and the careers associated with them. The partnership included professional development for staff, grant money for technology equipment, and a wealth of resources."

Chance Enrollment at Career Center Shapes into Life-Long Career
writes, "JACKSON, Mich. – Kevin McGee had no idea that his future was about to be shaped when a high school friend encouraged him to enroll in the Jackson Area Career Center’s machining program over 30 years ago. Every year, over 1,000 students pass through Career Center classes.

Some have focused in on career goals, some are learning skills for a part-time job while in college, some come to explore career opportunities, and others go just to be with their friends. The latter was the case for Kevin McGee. A friend had enrolled in a class at the Career Center in 1977 called “Industrial Machines”.

Rock Pioneer Bo Diddley Dies at Age 79
writes, "JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Bo Diddley, a founding father of rock ‘n’ roll whose distinctive “shave and a haircut, two bits” rhythm and innovative guitar effects inspired legions of other musicians, died Monday after months of ill health. He was 79 at the time of death, Diddley died of heart failure at his home in Archer, Fla., spokeswoman Susan Clary said. He had suffered a heart attack in August, three months after suffering a stroke while touring in Iowa.

Doctors said the stroke affected his ability to speak, and he had returned to Florida to continue rehabilitation. The legendary singer and performer, known for his homemade square guitar, dark glasses and black hat, was an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, had a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, and received a lifetime achievement award in 1999 at the Grammy Awards.

“I’m getting an idea how Tiger Woods feels”, said Rich Williams, jokingly after his 2-shot victory Saturday June 7 at the beautiful Tecumseh Country Club. “ The PGA field spends its time chasing after Woods tournament after tournament, and I’m trying to establish that precedent here on the Michigan Masters Golf Tour.” Williams, with his 5th career MMGT win, finished with an 81, two shots over the defending 2007 Father’s Day champion Larry Green, and 2 strokes better Shanear Trice.

Al Sharpton Takes Interest In Willie

Sharpton was in Detroit at the Wayne/Oakland County National Action Network 1st Annual Leadership Meeting, on Thursday, June 05, 2008, at Greater Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Reverend Al Sharpton, is the current National President of The National Action Network. He has been an outspoken advocate of Civil Rights, and is recognized nationwide for his continuous fight for social justice."
